Turkish Food Gallery

Well I have to admit: The turkish cuisine has always been one of my favorites. I love the fresh herbs they use, the sun-ripened fruits and vegetables, the tasteful spiceful meat, the ekmek and how it's all served with a smile and a small chat.

I'm currently bicycling around Europe and have now been in Çanakkale, Turkey for some days - taking a little break after 3500 km. of cycling. And the good thing after all this exercise: I AM SO HUNGRY!

Here follows some pictures of food I love:

Seafood

Sandwich with fried sardines, loads of fresh crispy parsley, deep red tomatoes, sweet onions, fresh green chili
Where: at the harbour of Gelibolu, Turkey. Sailing from Europe to Asia!

Pide

Turkish meat Pide. Closed. One of my favorites!
Where: walking the streets of Çanakkale (with food of cause...)

Open meat Pide. So delicious and tastefull!

Köfte

Köfte (turkısh meatballs), Ekmek (bread) and a book. Enjoyıng!
Where: Keşan, Turkey

Köfte Ekmek. Meat sandwich. Love you!

Börek

Water börek with cheese!

Again water börek. AND turkish chai. My breakfast these days!

Fruits

A red/orange shop along the road to Çanakkale. Tomatoes and peaches. Life is good, hay?

A fresh fig. Damn cheap compared to Denmark. Funny consistensy.
Where: walking some other streets of Çanakkale

I'm thirsty. Let's have a freshly squeezed orange juice... Ah!

Lahmacun

Turkish chef preparing a juicy and spicy Lahmacun
Where: Çanakkale

Lahmacun cam. He is turning it and making it just perfect.

Beautiful little bastard. It screems: EAT ME!

Lahmacun Cam 2. I!m eating you. And you taste so AAAAH! Should I get one more?
Where: central square, Çanakkale

Gözleme
Gözleme with cheese

I ordered one with meat and cheese. So soft and jucy.
Gözleme close-up!

Salad

A simple salad. But the taste of vegetables are so different here. Love it!

My turkish host prepared a traditiomal turkish bean and egg salad in her kitchen. Healthy, filling and most important: tasty!

 Pişi

Turkish donuts. Savory ones. Name: Pişi - breakfast bread.

Sweets

Lokum. Turkish delights. Sweet, gelly, chewy, gelatine bombs with hasselnuss

A small dessert... BAKLAVA. Arabian or turkish. The turks say it's theirs... Anyway. Sweet like sugar (main ingredient, haha) and the mix of pistace nuts and butter pensled filo layers makes it like being in heaven for a moment.

Adana kebab

I love this one too. Adana kebab. Grounded spiced beef with chili

Ready to roll. Ready to eat. I'm getting fat. But my mouth is having a blast!!!!
