PHOTOS: A Weekend In Berlin

Olympiastadion seen in the deep yellowish lights of a quiet afternoon. Stadium built for the 1936 Summer Olympics. Renovated for the 2006 FIFA World Cup. Still a huge concrete piece of architecture.

The 1936 Summer Olympic Swim Stadium. As of July 2012 it is still in use ... I was just starring. Dreaming.

Check Point Charlie crossing point between East Berlin and West Berlin during the Cold War.
Now a tourist attraction.

Famous sign at the former East Berlin border

Rent a Trabant and go for a ride along the old wall and border

Overlooking a remaining piece of the wall (from west to east)

A piece of very important history

"Straße des 17. Juni" -

Brandenborger Tor with the Quadriga atop the gate. The Quadriga was once in Paris actually as Napoleon took it as triumphal procession - before it was restored to Berlin in 1814.

Teufelsberg. An artificial hill made out of the rubble of Berlin. NSA built a large listening station on top of the hill which you see part of in this picture.
